Today was our longest day and another hot one. We had 143 miles today with lots of climbing and heat in the high 90's. As we rode across Oklahoma on a warm beautiful Sunday it was hard not to think about Ray. I was thinking about our pioneer ancestors and how when someone would die they would bury them and move on. How hard that must have been, but the journey had to go on. I was able to sing some church hymns as I rode and it gave me some comfort and peace. I wanted to stop at one of the churches and feel the spirit but there just is not enough time. I rode by myself a lot today because I wanted to go at my own pace. Oklahoma really is quite beautiful , with it's rolling hills, trees, wheat fields, and horses and cows. Anybody who thinks Oklahoma is flat is badly mistaken. I want to come back sometime and spend some time here.
It amazes me how it takes everything I have to finish the ride each day. When I get to the motel it feels like there is nothing left. Maybe it is just mental but it sure feels physical. Tonight in my room was hard for me,I think my heart was racing a bit perhaps because I was still dehydrated, but it caused me to get anxious as I tried to go to sleep thinking about Ray. I said a prayer and finally went to sleep. I miss home, I miss Deb, and I miss all of you.
Life Is Good Ride On
We miss you too. But we are looking forward to a big sweaty hug on the beach in Georgia! :)
