We left Pampa Texas this morning heading for Elk City Oklahoma. The morning was once again unseasonably cool. I rode with a couple of guys who are really fast to start out with, but they dropped me by mile 17. We were doing 24 to 26 mph on the flats which is very fast for me. I lost them when I stopped to take a picture. The roads were very good in Texas. It is quite interesting to see cattle, wind turbines, and oil and gas wells all in the same area, but that is west Texas. Someone rode by me today and yelled something about my legs, I don't know if it was a compliment or something nasty. Most people have been very nice but you do run into a few jerks.
As we got into Oklahoma the ground became way more rolling I do not like rollers the down goes to fast and the ups are so slow and hard. The wind was a factor sometimes today blowing in our face but for the most part it was good. It is nice to see more trees and green along with the red dirt of Oklahoma. The oil and gas boom is sure alive and well here. We will hit the half way point of our ride across America tomorrow. In some ways the Time has flown by, in other ways it has gone by at a turtles pace. I guess tomorrow will be tough with 120 miles and a lot oh hills with temps near 90 in the afternoon. Better run.

I bet they were yelling about how muscular and tan your legs look! You know they were jealous. You've got to post a picture of your killer farmers tan. And I can't believe you'll be 1/2 way done tomorrow! Seriously you amaze me. Amanda
ReplyDeleteWow, half way done! Truly amazing!!! I love the pictures. I think Amanda is right- they were yelling about your muscular legs :). Love you, Jacque
ReplyDeleteThanks Jacque I love your comments.
DeleteI'm so glad that you are taking the time to stop and take pictures, and then blog about them! And I agree with Amanda and Jacque...you've definitely got some muscular legs! I'm sure whoever yelled was complementing them!
